Celebrate craft beer at Wekiva Island’s Otter Fest

You might know us at Wekiva Island for fun days canoeing or kayaking on the Wekiva River, beautiful riverside views or amazing sustainability efforts—and we love all of those things! We also have a passion for great wine and craft beer. In fact, we love introducing our guests to new craft selections every month at Brew Review.

Once a year, however, we kick it up a notch with Otter Fest. This annual event allows us at Wekiva Island to show our passion for craft beer by inviting nearly 15 breweries from around the country to the Island for a day of fun. This year’s fest will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Wekiva Island, 1014 Miami Springs Dr., Longwood.

The event allows guests the chance to dive fully into the world of craft beer. Each of our nearly 15 breweries will serve two different beers, meaning guests will be able to sample almost 30 different brews to really find their favorite. Some of these will even be limited releases, so attendees can sample even more than they might find at their local shop or favorite tap. Brewery reps will share more about each beer and answer any questions.

Upon arrival, guests will also receive Bud Light’s newest drink, Bud Light Seltzer, to try. We are one of the first bars in the area to offer this new release so you can say you tried   it here first.

“This is one of my favorite events of the season,” said Carrie Vanderhoef, our operations manager. “I love watching guests explore the Island in a new way, and even though this is the third year we’ve done this, I always find a new favorite brew at Otter Fest.”

Want a little more time to sample all we have to offer? Go VIP! VIPs will be able to enter Otter Fest an hour early, at 1 p.m., to explore and sample before the crowds hit. VIP admission is $35, and regular admission is $25. You can purchase tickets on our website.

With all the delicious samples, you’ll probably want some food to fuel your fest, as well. Without A Paddle Café will be serving up some seriously good eats with some special menu items that are meant to pair well with beer.

If all of that isn’t enough for a fun day of things to do in Orlando, the Kona Brewing VW bus will be on site, and every attendee will get a commemorative Otter Fest cup to keep.

Orlando beer lovers and those looking for something fun to do shouldn’t miss this one! We hope to see you there—but don’t forget, this event is for those Islanders 21 and up.
