SUMMARY:Barbara Ortiz Demo in Gallery CERO
DESCRIPTION:Barbara Ortiz\, Pastel Demonstration \nMarch 21st from 5:30-7:30pm \nBarbara will be doing an interactive demonstration where all participants can get the feel of working with Pastels. \nBarbara’s Bio: \nCapturing a moment of joyful observation and conveying that moment through the use of light and shadow\, textures and edges in her representational oil paintings and pastel paintings is the reason she paints. \nShe enjoys the challenge of working in Plein Air. Due to the ever-changing light\, holding onto that original visual image and incorporating a sense of weather and time of day takes immense focus. Barbara says ”This is my happy place.” \nBarbara grew up in New Milford\, New Jersey. She began drawing at an early age influenced by her father\, an amateur oil painter. Living close to New York City\, her family spent many weekend exposing her to the art museums\, galleries and abundant street art. \nBarbara took life drawing classes in the North Jersey Art Center while in high school. She studied fine art at Monmouth College and Fairleigh Dickenson University. \nIn 1984\, Barbara moved to Cancun\, Mexico where she resided until 1994. During this time she worked frequently in watercolors. Upon returning to the United States\, Barbara\, along with her husband and two children\, settled in Florida. \nBarbara has participated in a number of invitational shows and paint outs. She has been recognized with awards for her work in both pastel and oil. \n

SUMMARY:Morgan Samuel Price Demo in Gallery CERO
DESCRIPTION:April 18 th 5:30-7:30pm \n$10 \nMorgan Samuel Price will be showing us how she creates an oil painting. \nCome watch the magic happen. \nBio:\nAt age 15\, Morgan knew enough about painting to learn Sumi brush strokes. Even at 15\, Morgan had the mindfulness\nto view her own practice and go learn specific skills to improve. No technical issue was going to hold Morgan back.\nNow\, decades later\, Morgan Samuel Price has technical skills few painters ever possess. Morgan will tell you that you\nmake 22 decisions with each brushstroke and she can name them. You only develop technical skills like this with a very fine mind and the tenacity to use it.\nHer professional career began in 1968 after graduating from Ringling School of Art. She began working at Hallmark Cards as an illustrator. She worked as art director of the News Herald in Like County Ohio. When she moved to Ardmore\, Oklahoma with her young family she decided to become a fine artist. She lived in a town with no galleries\, no museum\, no art stores\, and no art centers. When Morgan left Ardmore she was running art groups for doctors\, lawyers\, and developing painting skills of men\, women and children. Morgan left Ardmore with 4 flourishing art stores because practically everyone around had started painting. She turned a small town in Oklahoma into a town with a thriving visual arts culture before she turned 30.\nIn the process\, Morgan discovered she loved teaching as much as she loved painting. Many artists teach but not all see teaching itself as an art. Morgan did. \nMorgan learned to explain a single concept many ways. She tuned into how different people hear information. She put learning issues into treasure boxes. Because Morgan respected the art of teaching\, Morgan became one of our most respected teachers of art.
