The sentiment shared in the item is conveying that Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday is a time to sin\, then repent for Ash Wednesday\, and then follow it up with repeating the whole process again the next year. \nSo\, what is Fat Tuesday? Why is it such a celebration to so many people\, especially those that are found at church the next day receiving the ash on their foreheads or beginning the 40-day fast associated with the period of Lent and the Easter season? Many may not know what Fat Tuesday is\, but several know what Mardi Gras is\, which is the French term meaning “Fat Tuesday.” It marks the time between the ending of the Three Kings Day (January) and Ash Wednesday (46 days before Easter). \nHow Did the Name Fat Tuesday Come About?\nThe origins of Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras first began thousands of years ago as part of uninhibited pagan festivals for fertility and spring\, filled with indulgences in everything. Rome’s embrace of Christianity meant the interest of incorporating Fat Tuesday into Christianity becoming a goal; thus\, Fat Tuesday and all its unrestricted immorality were welcomed as part of preparing for Ash Wednesday and fasting for Lent. The event quickly spread through Europe like wildfire\, and then began its journey over to the Americas. Mardi Gras arrived in the United States as a small festival marking French explorers Sieur de Bienville and Pierre Le Moyne d’lberville’s landing on what is now New Orleans\, Louisiana on March 3\, 1699. \n  \nWhat Happens on Fat Tuesday?\nTradition has it that those who were preparing for Lent and fasting were to take all the food and drink from their homes that didn’t coincide with whatever they would eat while fasting to the Lord. Typically\, it was foods saturated with fat (dairy\, lard)\, meat\, and sugar to be replaced with fish and non-fat/meat/sugar food alternatives. \nWhat foods are traditionally eaten on Fat Tuesday are various but still cater to the belief of eating those without fat/meat/sugar. England prepares pancakes for the holiday (even calling it Pancake Day)\, Poland declares it Paczki Day and consumes jelly-filled donuts\, and the United States rounds it out with fried Po’Boys\, several types of meat\, and lots of fried food.

DESCRIPTION:In 1968\, acting upon growing public concern about threatened natural waterways\, Congress passed the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (WSRA) (Public Law 90-542). This Act recognizes the values of certain rivers and their associated ecosystems as outstanding natural treasures that must be protected for the enjoyment of future generations. Several rivers were designated for immediate protection and additional rivers were authorized for study as potential components of the federally protected system. Since then\, Congress has amended the Act to either designate or authorize study of additional rivers. \nIn 1996\, at the request of local advocates\, Congress Passed Public Law 101-311 authorizing the study of the Wekiva River\, Rock Springs Run\, and Seminole Creek as possible additions to the National Wildand Scenic Rivers System. After the ―Wekiva River Study was completed and published in 1999\, the Wekiva River together with Rock Springs Run\, Wekiwa Springs Run\, and Black Water Creek were designated by act of the United States Congress as a National Wild and Scenic River on October 13\, 2000. \nThe Wekiva River together with Rock Springs Run\, Wekiwa Springs Run\, and Black Water Creek were selected for Wild and Scenic protection because they were found to be free-flowing and possessed five outstandingly remarkable values (ORVs) associated with the river environment. These values are: scenic\, recreation\, wildlife and habitat\, historic and cultural\, and water quality and quantity.

DESCRIPTION:We use World Centric cups! \nWorld Centric® compostable plastic cups and containers are made from Ingeo\,™ a bio-based plastic derived from renewable plants grown in the U.S. Chemically\, this material is known as PLA\, or Poly Lactic Acid\, which can be derived from a variety of plant-based starches. \n  \nWorld Centric has adopted many of the same practices we have! \n\nOur Emissions\n\nOur carbon footprint is the sum of all carbon emissions emitted into the atmosphere in the process of making our compostable goods and running our sustainable business. This includes emissions from the production of our raw materials and our manufacturing all the way to the transportation to your front door. It includes processing\, inbound ocean freight transportation\, outbound trucking\, and warehouse operations. Our office footprint even includes the commute and travel of our staff. \n\n\n\nOur Efforts\n\nIt is our belief that both individuals and companies can and should reduce their carbon footprint. It starts with looking at ways to reduce your own emissions\, usually directly related to reducing energy consumption. We also believe in investing in renewable energy like solar and wind energy production in addition to carbon offsetting programs such as planting trees. \nWe are conscious of our daily operations and simple ways that any individual can reduce energy use such as limiting centralized heating and using energy efficient space heaters\, and spaces with natural light. \n\n\n\nOur Partnerships\n\nWe believe that by partnering with other grassroots organizations we can be carbon neutral and at the same time help other organization and people that are directly faced with problems of income generation and sustainable development. In our endeavors to go carbon neutral\, we focused on two things: the sequestering of carbon through tree planting and supporting projects with direct benefits to communities and people.
