DESCRIPTION:Our Carbon Footprint\nWhile there is much debate about impact of our carbon footprint on the planet\, it is our belief that the impact exists and will continue to negatively impact our plant and its ecosystems. In the past 200 years\, more carbon has been dumped into the atmosphere than ever causing the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere to more than double the maximum level they’ve been throughout history. \nWekiva Island is determined to help reduce the carbon footprint and be a part of helping decrease the risk of catastrophic climate change. To do so\, we have adopted the 2030 Challenge! \n  \nWhat does this mean?\n\nAll new buildings\, developments and major renovations shall be designed to meet a fossil fuel\, GHG-emitting\, energy consumption performance standard of 50% of the regional (or country) average for that building type.\nAt a minimum\, an equal amount of existing building area shall be renovated annually to meet a fossil fuel\, GHG-emitting\, energy consumption performance standard of 50% of the regional (or country) average for that building type.\nThe fossil fuel reduction standard for all new buildings and major renovations shall be increased to:\n– 70% in 2015\n– 80% in 2020\n– 90% in 2025\n– Carbon-neutral in 2030\n\nThese targets may be accomplished by implementing innovative sustainable design strategies\, generating on-site renewable power and/or purchasing (20% maximum) renewable energy and/or certified renewable energy credits. \n  \nHow Can You Help?\nAs concern grows about the prospect of global climate change\, more and more people are searching for ways to address their carbon impact on our planet. The first step in moving in a positive direction is understanding what your present impact is and what contributes to it.

With a diet like this\, it is no wonder that female bears can weigh between 150 to 300 pounds and male bears can weigh between 250 to 450 pounds. Most Florida black bears are between 5 to 6 feet long and are about 3 feet high at the shoulder.
