DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first in a series of Artist Demonstrations in Gallery CERO. \nArtist Barbara Ortiz will be offering a pastel demonstration on August 17th from 5:30-7:30. \nBarbara Ortiz – Painter \nCapturing a moment of joyful observation and sharing that moment on canvas through the use of light and shadow\, textures and edges in her representational oil paintings and pastel paintings is the reason she paints. \nShe enjoys the challenge of working in plein air. Due to the ever-changing light\, holding onto that original visual image and incorporating a sense of weather and time of day takes immense focus. Barbara says “This is my happy place.” \nBarbara took life drawing classes in the North Jersey Art Center while in high school. She studied fine art at Monmouth College and Fairleigh Dickenson University. \nIn 1984\, Barbara moved to Cancun\, Mexico where she resided until 1994. During that time\, she owned and operated an interior decorating business. Upon returning to the United States\, Barbara\, along with her husband and two children\, settled in Florida. \nBarbara resumed studying oil painting and pastel. She began painting plein air in 2011. Plein air painting beautifully joined her love of painting with her love of the outdoors. \nBarbara has participated in a number of invitational shows and paint outs. She has been recognized with awards for her work in both pastel and oil. \nLimited seating is available\, RSVP is required.

DESCRIPTION:Artist Orit Reuben will be offering a pastel demonstration on September 21st from 5:30-7:30. \nAward-winning artist Orit Reuben is an impressionist pastel painter. Born in Israel to a family of artists\, Orit is greatly influenced by her late grandfather\, a painter. As a child\, she painted at her mother’s side\, who still paints. \nOrit is inspired by the beauty of nature and loves to paint outdoors where she can truly experience her surroundings. She draws inspiration from light effects and loves to observe how objects are illuminated. Her paintings often depict glow and intense light. Orit prefers to paint on sunny days\, which are plentiful in Florida\, where she resides. Her innate sense of color results in playful and inventive color palettes. \nIn her previous career\, Orit was an interior designer\, which is why she often includes structures in her paintings. She finds compositional balance in the combination of linear geometry and organic plant shapes. \nOrit is a signature member of The Florida Painters\, a member of Pastel Society of America\, American Impressionist Society\, and a Master Pastelist of the Southeastern Pastel Society. She participates in plein air events and draws inspiration from the landscapes she encounters where she lives and on her travels. \nLimited seating is available\, RSVP is required. \n

DESCRIPTION:Artist Sally Evans will be offering a pastel demonstration on October 19th from 5:30-7:30. \n$10 per attendee \nAbout the Artist: \nSally has a BFA in Graphic Design and Fine Art from the University of South Carolina. She began her career as a graphic artist and transitioned into becoming a full time painter\nin the early 90’s. Expressive use of color and bold designs are the hallmarks of her style. Her subject matters range from plein air painting to figurative works of dogs and animals. She works with pastels\, acrylics and mixed media.\nCurrently US Airways features her paintings in the US Airways Club at Tampa International Airport. Her paintings were also on display in the American Embassy in Rome\, through the Art and Embassies Program in 2001. Sally’s work has been selected as the featured art for several art festivals in Florida over the past ten years.\n“Santa Fe Poppies” graced the cover of Tampa Bay Magazine in their September-October of 2002 issue. In Spring 2011 Sally was the featured artist of The New Barker magazine with her painting of “Bella and Bentley”. Recently\, Sally’s work has been exhibited in these prestigious exhibitions – Elements Of Expression 2013 NY. NY.\, National Society of Casein and Acrylic Painters 2016 NY. NY.\, International Society of Acrylic Painters Florida 2017 (honorable mention)\, Pastel Society of America 2017 NY. NY. and Acrylic Painters USA 2018.\nHer lithographs of landscapes have been showcased in the television show Nip/Tuck and the movies American Dreamz. Rob Reiner’s 2017 film Shock and Awe featured her dog posters.\nSally is a signature member of The International Society of Acrylic Painters\, Acrylic Painters USA\, Associate member of Pastel Society of America and The National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic. Sally is represented by these fine art galleries: Syd Entel Galleries – Safety Harbor\, FL\, Park Avenue Contemporary Art –Winter Park\, FL and The Little Green Store – Huntsville\, AL.
