Guest blog: My favorite ways to celebrate corporate events at Wekiva Island

As a member of the Weinaug family (my brother owns Wekiva Island!), I’ve celebrated countless milestones Island-style. It seems we always find ourselves coming together at the Island. There are so many things I love about sharing it! We are a family-run business and we put our hearts and souls into making it a special place for the community, and most of all, during the holidays!

While many people know Wekiva Island as the perfect place to kick back to the sounds of live music on a summer night, they might not know just how many options we have as a corporate events venue near Orlando.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to celebrate corporate events at Wekiva Island.

Rent a cabana

If you’ve ever visited Wekiva Island, it might have been to spend time in one of our always popular riverside cabanas or as a great place for a river adventure.  Now more than ever, however, local companies are joining in to take their teams offsite for group picnics, strategic planning, and corporate holiday events.

Our 10+ riverside retreats offer guests their own reserved, shaded space on the Island, complete with comfortable furniture, a cooler with water, grills, and two parking spaces. Our outdoor event venues near Orlando can be the perfect home base for any company wanting a fun, casual day at the Island.

My favorite hack? Skip the grilling and let Without a Paddle Café handle the cooking! They offer a variety of options for the perfect easy cabana day…and the food is incredible.

Retreat, reset, reward

When your team has spent too many hours cooped up in the conference room or isolated at home on Zoom, it might be time to come together for a company retreat. Here’s where one of Wekiva Island’s best kept secrets comes into play. We have amazing corporate event space for any company.

Need executive space? Our art gallery, Gallery CERO, features an intimate board room for up to 10. Want to invite the whole crew? Load in to the Solar Array, offering an open-air facility, nestled perfectly between the river and the main bar! Mike Barr Education Center—our Classroom and Deck—can be configured in a variety of ways and features full audio/visual capabilities, air conditioning, outdoor summer kitchen/grilling area, and private restrooms.

Either way, you’re bound to get the ideas and communications flowing at our gorgeous riverside location. I’ve seen companies use the setting for retreats, half-work, half-fun days where they enjoy the river or a cabana after sessions or even for team rewards. Buying out the Island is an option, too, for large companies!

Go upscale

Wekiva Island is versatile, and if you’ve spent any time in our newest event space, Gallery CERO, I know you’ll agree. Located on the upper level of the Tooting Otter Craft Beer and Wine Bar, the gallery brings a touch of elegance to any event.

This space glows at night and would be the perfect location for a cocktail party or gala. It’s truly one of the most unique event venues in Central Florida. Plus, it has the absolute best views on the Island, looking out at the Wekiva River.

Make it a tradition

Just like the Weinaug family, Wekiva Island can be your go-to for your corporate family. We’ve had company holiday parties, quarterly teambuilding celebrations and more for corporate groups of all kinds.

Whether they fit best in the Classroom and the surrounding cabanas, at the Tooting Otter or any combination of our corporate space, it’s always a joy for me and the Wekiva Island team to bring your events to life.
