ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 13, 2025) — Grab your flip-flops and throw on your best Hawaiian shirt — Wekiva Island is turning up the island vibes for its annual Kona Luau celebration.
The tropical-themed bash returns Saturday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 11 p.m., inviting guests to say goodbye to summer with a festive evening of live fire dancers, a hula hoop contest, Kona Brewing Co. specials and beachy giveaways — all along the scenic Wekiva River.

The hula hoop contest kicks off at 7 p.m., followed by a dazzling fire performance at 7:30 p.m. Guests can sip on $25 buckets of Kona Big Wave or $4 Big Wave drafts.
“The Kona Luau is one of our most beloved traditions,” said Carrie Vanderhoef, manager of Wekiva Island. “It’s the perfect way to wind down the season with our community and celebrate another year of the Island.”
Tickets are not required for the Kona Luau. The celebration traditionally marks Wekiva Island’s anniversary.
Celebrating its 17th year, Wekiva Island continues to serve as a hub for sustainability, art, and education in Seminole County. Events like the Kona Luau reflect the Island’s mission to create unforgettable experiences while connecting people to nature and community.
