Relax and Enjoy

Relax in wooden Adirondack chairs and soak in the peace of the beautiful Wekiva River. The Boardwalk, which runs from The Sanctuary to the boat launch area, is one of the most popular spots among our guests at Wekiva Island. Grab a few chairs and stake out the perfect place for your group for the day or to wind down with a glass of wine or beer. Then, just sit back, enjoy the Florida sun and relax.

White Sand

Volleyball is a favorite group activity at the Island. Our regulation-size sand volleyball court is located behind our main building and is available for groups to reserve. We have bleachers for friends or bystanders to cheer on their team – whether you’re playing competitively or for just your own recreation. Time may be limited or matches may rotate to accommodate other guest reservations.

Cooler Nights

Fire Pit

Our riverfront fire pit is a prime location for cooler months in Florida. It is a favorite place to gather, relax and enjoy the company of others. Grab a drink from the bar or a bite from Without a Paddle Café and cozy up for the perfect night!

Energy Efficient

Wekiva Island offers clean, indoor restrooms for guest use. These restrooms are renovated to match our efforts of energy efficiency and water conservation. They feature low flow and dual flush water closets and waterless urinals. The bathrooms are regularly maintained to help maximize your experience on the river.

Jump In

What better way to cool off than to jump in the river? Wekiva River remains a constant 72 degrees all year round, and guests are welcome to enjoy swimming along the boardwalk area or in other designated swimming locations along the river. Outside floats are welcome. Large floats will be charged a small fee. Please note: There are no lifeguards on duty, and no diving is permitted from anywhere along the boardwalk. This is a natural Florida River & wildlife is present.

Cast Away

The Wekiva River is well known for its fishing and is filled with a variety of fish. Fishing is not allowed from our shores as there is too much human activity. However, guests are encouraged to bring their own bait and tackle and the cast from boats, canoes, kayaks or paddleboards.
