Debbie Miller’s Bio:

Debbie is a late-bloomer when it comes to painting — though her
friends & family would probably say that she has always bloomed in
other creative ways – making beautiful spaces, offering hospitality,
designing colorful and tasty meals, and dabbling in a variety of
crafts that let her amass shamefully huge stashes of yarn, fabric, and
mixed media art supplies over the years.

Debbie’s journey into painting really began in March 2016, when she
was introduced to the Daily Painting Movement. She discovered – at 58
years old – that if you practice something every day, you really do
get better (and have more fun). Debbie and Brian (her husband and
creativity co-conspirator) were hooked! Now they can’t imagine their
lives without this rich discipline.

In addition to her personal artistic practice, Debbie has a heart for
helping people discover the ways in which they are creative and take
steps forward in expressing that creativity. She believes that art is
a source of joy, beauty and delight. But it is also a sacred
storyteller that can help us heal and grow as individuals and
communities.

She and Brian developed They Make Art University, a learning platform
dedicated to offering high-quality online and in-person art education
to artists at all levels of experience and confidence.

Though she retired from her licensed mental health counseling practice
in April 2023, Debbie continues to provide soul care through creative
depth coaching, expressive art workshops, and individual and group
spiritual direction.

Brian Miller Bio:

Brian has been an artist all his life, but it’s only after he became
part of the Daily Painting Movement in 2016 that he freely identified
himself as a painter.

He holds BFAs in animation and film-making from The University of the
Arts in Philadelphia, PA and spent the early part of his professional
career as a graphic artist, art director, interactive graphics
designer, instructional designer, and web designer and developer. In
the process, he taught himself programming, and now works full-time as
an IT systems administrator.

This shift in focus from artistic to technical work freed up his
creative energy for developing his personal art. Now he paints daily
with a bold, intuitive style and a sense of whimsy. He is also
pursuing his passion for helping others find their artistic voice and
develop systems that will support their creative endeavors. He is an
Adjunct Faculty member of The Crealdé School of Art in Winter Park,
FL, and offers online art education classes and individual mentoring.
He is also part of Olga Furman’s Paint Your Heart and Soul artist
collective.

Brian lives in Orlando and feels grateful for being part of his local
art community as well as the global community available through social
media. His work is held in private collections in three continents,
and is part of the permanent collection of the Arts Council of
Jackson/Butts County, Georgia.
