Hazel will begin with a brief introduction to encaustic—its origins and history, including the ancient Fayum portraits—before walking through the process step by step. Watch as she creates encaustic medium using beeswax, damar resin, and pigment, explores the tools of the trade, and brings a piece to life—either an abstract landscape or an underwater coral reef scene.

If you’ve heard of encaustic but never fully understood how it works, this is a great opportunity to see the process up close and ask questions in a relaxed, engaging setting.

About the Artist
Hazel Griffiths is a multidisciplinary artist originally from England, working across both digital and physical media. Her practice often blends the two—creating textures and effects by hand before translating them into digital environments.

Now focused primarily on encaustic painting, Hazel uses wax and mixed media to create expressive, layered landscapes—both real and imagined. With a foundation in classical oil painting, her work explores immersive, atmospheric environments with a subtle sense of magic, extending into narrative-driven virtual reality experiences that blur the line between painting and world-building.
